BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) Big night in Brown County for Republicans. They gathered for the annual "Meet the Ticket" event - bringing political candidates and their supporters together.
Talk to Republicans and they will tell you this gathering is about generating excitement and creating momentum for campaigns this coming election cycle.
In a restaurant called the Ravine - a room full of Republicans.
"The goal is to educate and energize," said Republican Party of Brown County Chairman, Mark Becker.
Long-time incumbents and candidate hopefuls - all eager for the elections just ahead.
"This is the biggest event outside of the convention," said Becker. "Expecting a big crowd along with the elected officials, so it's a big deal."
The star of the night Scott Walker, who rallied local Republicans, while acknowledging the most recent Marquette Law poll which shows the governor's race too close to call.
"Whether retirees, young people, college students, working families were going to need all of those folks out knocking on doors making personal contacts," said Gov. Walker (R-Wisconsin). "We think that will make the difference."
