Oshkosh, Wisconsin (WFRV) -- This week's Hometown Hero hails from Minnesota, but never saw combat.  Betty Strohfus helped train air combat crews during World War II at her own expense.

94-year old Betty Strohfus earned her wings and served in World War II. A chance meeting with a customer at the register of deeds in Farbault, Minnesota led her to a local flying club and a flight with a pilot who did a spin in hopes of shaking Betty up. He spun the plane 21 times. Betty recalls what happened next. "He said whatever you do, you've got to fly. I've never met anyone who can take more than I can."

Local Five's Terry Kovarik picks up the story of this incredible Hometown Hero. He had a chance to talk to her at the EAA Museum.
