SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV)--An 11 year-old boy is recovering after being buried in a sand dune Saturday afternoon.
According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department, the boy was digging in the sand at Kohler-Andrae State Park around 2:30 p.m. when the sand around collapsed, pulling him underneath.
The Supervisor at the State Park told Local 5 News a group of boys were digging in an area between the lake and Cord Walk.
The area where this happened was off the trails.
The access road was closed temporarily as rescue crews were on scene.
Park officials want to remind park goers to stay on the trails for their safety.
The road is now back open.
The 11-year-old boy was taken to a hospital in Milwaukee where he is believed to be in stable condition.
