Appleton stabbing victims' conditions improve

They were originally listed in critical condition

APPLETON, Wis. - UPDATE: Prosecutors are charging a 42-year-old man for a weekend stabbing at a bar on Appleton’s north side.

Luis Avila was in Outagamie County court Wednesday afternoon on charges of first-degree reckless injury and carrying a concealed knife.

Police say Avila stabbed two men at Dieter’s Ale Haus on Northland Avenue last Saturday night.

They say the two victims were taken to hospitals and their conditions are improving.

ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Neenah says that the conditions of both stabbing victims has improved from critical condition.

They listed one in serious condition and the other in fair condition, but were not able to specify who was who.

Two people are in critical condition after an overnight stabbing in Appleton.

The two victims, a 28-year-old from Neenah and a 39-year-old from Appleton, were both stabbed inside of Dieter's Ale Haus following an altercation. Police do not know what started the argument.

According to police, Luis Carlos Avila, 42, was arrested on charges of First Degree Reckless Injury and Aggravated Battery Intending to Cause Great Bodily Harm.

Police are not looking for any other suspects.

Appleton Police say the suspects in an overnight stabbing that sent two victims to the hospital remain at large.

The call came in to police at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday to Dieter's Ale Haus on East Northland Avenue in Appleton as a disturbance with a weapon.

Police arrived to find two victims with multiple stab wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, and their conditions are not being released at this time.

The suspects had left the scene by the time police arrived. Officials say the search for the suspects is active, but that the public is not believed to be in danger.
