Child on bike hit and injured by alleged drunk driver

MENASHA (WFRV) - The Menasha Police Department reports that a 32-year-old Appleton man is arrested after allegedly striking a 10-year-old boy on a bicycle with his car.

It happened in the area of Geneva and London Street around 4:50PM on Saturday.

Based on evidence at the scene, witness information, and an anonymous tip, the driver and car were found a short time after the crash.

The man was found passed out in an apartment in the 900 block of Sixth Street.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Winnebago County Jail where he is awaiting charges.

The Menasha Police Department is recommending charges of Hit and Run Causing Injury, Causing Injury when Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated (2nd offense), Operating after Revocation, and Possession of Marijuana (2nd offense).

The boy lived in the area of the incident. He was taken to a local hospital with head injuries.

He received 17 stitches as a result of his injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

The 32-year-old was in Menasha staying with relatives.
