Congressman Mike Gallagher reacts to possible government shutdown

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Congress has one week left to avoid a government shutdown.

Instead of working on a long-term funding plan, Wisconsin Republican Mike Gallagher says Congress keeps passing short-term spending bills to buy more time, without fixing problems.

Lawmakers are already preparing for another stopgap bill next week, to once again keep the government running for a few more weeks. The plan will also give Congress a later deadline to come up with a long-term plan.

Wisconsin native, House Speaker Paul Ryan says he's confident lawmakers will reach a final deal.
