Fox Cities Marathon

Neenah (WFRV) Runners braved the heat and took to the pavement for the 27th Annual Fox Cities Marathon.

Thousands took on the the half and full marathons today.

Aside from the long race, heat was also a challenge for runners this year.

Organizers encouraged homeowners who live on the route to turn on their sprinklers so runners could cool off, "We put extra water out on the course, we put cooling busses out there in case they needed to step out of the heat for a while and into some air conditioning, we had a cooling station, and we've added thousands of popsicles out on the course," said Amanda Secor, marathon organizer.

Even with the heat some runners were able to still put up a personal best time on the course.

Mason Grundy won the men's full marathon for the third consecutive year.

Allison Pitt came in first in the women's full marathon.
