Green Bay Farmers Market peas sicken four

WFRV-- – The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is currently investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Thompson poisoning in four Wisconsin counties, including Brown County. One person was hospitalized.

Local 5 News has confirmed the cases are connected to peas purchased at the Green Bay Farmers Market on July 22. The peas were also sold a the Fond du Lac and Madison farmers markets.

The vendor who sold the peas is not being identified. They were sold as loose-shelled peas, no longer in their pods.

The Brown County Health Department can't confirm how many people bought the peas.

Peas will no longer be sold at the farmer's market for the season, not because of the outbreak, but because the season is over. There is a farmers market this Saturday.

The health department says if you bought peas on July 22nd from the Green Bay Farmer's Market, throw them away.
