GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) -Several local students were recognized for their own short films as the Green Bay Film Festival took its final curtain call Sunday for the 2014 season.

The Future Filmmakers Competition is in its fourth year of competition and returning applicants Jocelyne Berumen, Emma Sanchez and Jake Whalen were all awarded for their growth both technically and creatively.

Alex Zacarias, President of Green Bay Films, said that each year industry personnel put on workshops to help applicants develop their craft.

There were half a dozen submissions to this year's competition. Each short film cannot exceed three minutes, a budget of 100 dollars and must adhere to the chosen theme.

"This year's theme was steam punk," Zacarias said. "It's sort of like a Sherlock Holmes era where it looks Victorian, but with cool gadgetry."
