GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFVR) - New equipment for the Green Bay Metro Fire Department could save lives and backs.

The five main ambulances have been outfitted with powered cots.

Instead of manually lifting patients the new equipment will save time, prevent back injuries for the crew and improve safety for the patients.

The department expects long term back injuries to decrease by as much as 60%.

Powered cots cost roughly $12,000, an increase of $5,000 compared to a traditional cot.
