Highway 47 closing for maintenance

OUTAGAMIE, Wis. - Wisconsin Highway 47 is going to have a three day, full closure next week in Outagamie County.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reports that WIS 47 in Black Creek to the Outagamie/Shawano county line 1.6 miles north of County F will be closed and detoured for a chip seal maintenance operation taking place July 31 to August 2.

Chip seals consist of a layer of crushed stone placed on top of an application of liquid asphalt to reduce roadway detioration and prolong the life of the pavement.

Motorists should note that chip seal maintenance may result in loose stones temporarily on the roadbed. Once the chip seal has cured, crews will sweep the highway to clear away loose stones.

Motorists are urged to take extra caution, drive slowly, and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent damage from any loose stone chips.
