How fans reacted to Packers request to link arms

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Fans described the feeling inside Lambeau Field on Thursday as being incredibly patriotic, while the nation continues to debate national anthem protests.

Packers players penned a letter to fans this week, asking them to link arms in the stands during the national anthem while players linked arms on the sidelines.

While some fans did link arms, many chose to stand with their hands over their hearts.

"We did not link arms, everybody talked about it before the game, we all put our hands over our chests and sang the national anthem so it was very patriotic," Kevin Barnard of Milwaukee said.

Many fans inside the stadium sang the national anthem, waved American flags, and chanted "U.S.A" from the bleachers.

"Thrilling, absolutely, to be there and see both teams standing, everyone arms locked, everyone around me was standing, most people were singing and it was very uplifting," Jessica Everett of Pensacola, Florida said.
