Lawmakers Considering Tollways At Wisconsin's Borders

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - Lawmakers in Wisconsin are considering an open-road tollway in response to a possible future funding problem for the state's roads.

State Representative Joel Kitchens from Door County says tolls would ideally be placed at Wisconsin's borders. Yet, before he's sold on the idea he wants to look into the options more carefully. Kitchens cites Gas Tax increases not keeping up with inflation as the main reason for the potential funding issues.

Any plans for a toll at the border would require Federal approval.
