Local Coast Guard Members return from Hurricane Harvey relief

DOOR COUNTY,Wis. - Local Coast Guard Members return from Texas. Petty Officer Andrew Michaels has ridden out plenty of storms during his 14 years of service.
" I dealt with Hurricane Ike and Hurricane Dolly,"Petty Officer Andrew Michaels said.

Last week Petty Officer Michaels and sixteen other officers added Harvey to their hurricane relief resume.

'This hurricane was unique; we experienced a lot of rain in a short amount of time and Harvey just seemed to linger over the area,"Officer Michaels said.

It wasn't just flood waters Michaels had to keep an eye on.

" Anything from snakes, to I know there was a 20 foot alligator around my boat and under my boat," Officer Michaels said.

Petty Officer Michaels says, he and his shipmates from Sturgeon Bay will not be heading south to help out with Hurricane Irma. The station's boats aren't equipped for the kind of flooding that is taking place in Florida.
