Man arrested after crashing vehicle into canal

KAUKAUNA, Wis. - One man is in custody after crashing his truck into a canal in Kaukauna Sunday night.

At 9:32 p.m. Sunday, Kaukauna police were called to the area of Island and Elm Streets for the report of a pickup truck doing burnouts and squealing tires.

Before officers arrived on scene, the truck went off road and into the water at Catherine Street and East Wisconsin Avenue.

The driver, who was idenified as 21-year-old Trustyn Vandenbloomer from the Kaukauna area, ran from the scene, and was found hiding under a trailer. He reportedly tried to run away after being located by officers and was tased.

Officials say he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries sustained in the crash before being transported to the Outagamie County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing.

The Outagamie County Sheriff's Dive Team was dispatched to search the submerged vehicle for any other occupants, and it was determined that the driver had been the sole occupant.
