Officer injured in Ashwaubenon crash identified

ASHWAUBENON (WFRV) - UPDATE: Police have identified the Public Safety Officer injured in a crash involving a drunk driver on I-41 Saturday Night.

He is Public Safety Officer Brian Murphy.

Officers say just before 11:30 p.m., Murphy was hit by a vehicle while trying to assist in a 911 call relating to a car fire on I-41 just South of Waube Lane.


Murphy was wearing a safety reflective vest, had emergency lights on his vehicle operating normally and used cones and flares to divert traffic away from the fire.

After being hit, Murphy was sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Officer Murphy had surgery, his condition has improved but is still being listed as in critical and stable condition.


The driver of the vehicle that hit Murphy, was driven by a 28 year old woman from Greenleaf.

She was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and for not yielding to an emergency vehicle.
