One man killed in Winnebago Co. Crash

Winnebago County (WFRV) One person is dead following a two vehicle accident in Winnebago County.

The crash happened just before 4:30 Thursday afternoon on Highway 76 and County Highway G.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department says a blue Saturn, driven by 58-year-old David Barna of Merill, was east bound on CTH G, and failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign hitting a Mazda, which had been traveling southbound on STH 76.

Barna, who was trapped and extricated, sustained life threatening injuries, and was airlifted by Theda Star form the scene.  Barna later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger in this vehicle, 24-year-old Kelsey Barna, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Mazda was driven by 29-year-old Jordan Loppnow of North Fond du Lac. Loppnow sustained serious injuries in the crash. Her two boys, ages 8 and 4, sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but it appears that alcohol is not a factor in this crash.
