Oshkosh West High School bomb threat investigation continues

OSHKOSH,Wis. -  The Oshkosh School District learned of the bomb threat around 9 am Thursday morning and students were  evacuated shortly before lunch.

The school used a fire alarm to evacuate the building as staff moved the students to the football field to wait for further instructions.

The district sent out an e- mail to over 8,000 parents alerting them of the incident. Classes were cancelled and buses arrived to pick up students as police continued to work the scene.

During this time several agencies including the Brown County and Outagamie County bomb squad began to search the high school.

Law enforcement used canine efforts to secure the campus and after searching the premises police found nothing.

The district says the real lesson of the event is safety always remains a top priority.

"Our real job is to practice and plan for everything, train our staff well and prepare our students well by practices," Oshkosh School District, Superintendent Stan Mack said.

If you missed out on the e- mail alert you can call the district and they can help you sign up for future messages. Police say the bomb threat is an ongoing investigation.
