Plane crash on Washington Island

WASHINGTON ISLAND, Wis. - Washington Island Fire Department reports a plane crash on the island.

The single engine Mooney plane was among 100 other aircrafts on Washington Island participating in the Lion's Club Fly-In Fish Boil charity event.

Two adults were on the plane as it attempted to land. The single engine craft unexpectedly caught a gust of wind and clipped a tree.

The adults are not injured, but did sustain minor scrapes and bruises.

Fire Chief Paul Swanson is handling the incident.
