Police warn of IRS phone scam

Police are warning of an automated IRS phone scam that that is continuing in Northeast Wisconsin. 

The automated message states that the citizen attempted a fraud on the IRS and they are to call a phone number. Officials say that this type of scam uses threats toward the person to get a response. 

If you or someone you know gets a call from a person or automated message, you should hang up and not give out any information and do not call back the number given in the automated message. 

Authorities are asking everyone to spread the word so that people can be aware of the scam.
