Representative Mike Gallagher rings bells for Salvation Army ahead of Thanksgiving

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Grocery stores are echoing with the sounds of bells ringing for donations to the Salvation Army, and on Monday, some Green Bay shoppers were greeted by U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher.

With a Packers beanie on and a bell in hand, the Congressman spent the afternoon at Pick 'n Save on Lombardi Access Road.

The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay hopes to meet their 2017 fundraising goal of $1.1 million to fund programs that help the community.

"One of the truly, truly special things about Northeast Wisconsin is that this is an area where people take care of each other and the community is so generous and so I just want to encourage everyone to spend an hour ringing a bell, where something very warm because it's cold right now,  but it's just a great organization and a great time of year to do stuff like this ," Rep. Gallagher said.

He also told Local 5 that he believes Congress will be able to pass the tax reform bill before Christmas.
