DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV)--All the area pools might be closing for the summer but Sunday one went to the dogs as the water got rrrrruff.

The VFW pool in De Pere didn't go out without a splash and a bark.

Sunday was the third annual pooch plunge where dogs and their owners could take a dip and enjoy the pool before it closes for the summer.

Dogs got to play catch, frisbie and just cool off.

The VFW pool is only three years old and the event is designed to bring awareness to the community.

"there's not alot of places we can take our dogs without having to worry about current or it being safe so this provides a safe atmosphere for the dogs to swim in," said Event Organizer, Kaitlyn Bloemer.

Organizers tell us about 40-50 dogs participated this year.
