'Take Me Home Huey' comes to Oshkosh

Artist Steve Maloney's 'Take Me Home Huey' helicopter is at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh.

The sculpture was inspired by the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War.

Maloney and others restored a demolished helicopter that served in the war, with Maloney adding feature artwork afterwards.

Through research, the creators of the project found that two men who served in the Vietnam War died after an attack on the helicopter.

The team was also able to reunite the crew of the 'Huey.'

The wandering artwork serves to bring together veterans and their families, as well as assist those suffering from PTSD.
