UW Health showcases Erin Davisson's life-changing event

(WFRV) - Erin Davisson is one of the signature faces of Local 5, but what you might not know is that her life was saved thanks to an organ donor. A very special thank you goes to UW Health for sharing this feature story with Local 5.

Erin is a shinning example of why life is so precious. Erin's health took a turn for the worst in August of 1990. After she was rushed to the hospital, doctors told Erin she had been bleeding internally all night. Veins collapsed, blood draining away, Erin's blood pressure had even dropped to 50/10. Unable to move or speak, she was given the most unimaginable news: someone had donated a liver, and she was to be the recipient. 20 years later, she was able to compete in the Transplant Games, which is an Olympic-style competition for organ transplant recipients held in Madison this past year. Erin was a proud bicycling member of Team Wisconsin.

Erin continues to campaign for organ donating, while anchoring Local 5 news at 5, 6, and 10.
