Wisconsin Senate passes anti-heroin legislation

- MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - Wisconsin Senate has voted in favor of four anti-herion bills drafted by a lawmaker from Marinette.

Representative John Nygren, whose daughter has battled an addiction, proposed the legislation to help deter heroin use and make resources available for users.

One of the bills, would allow emergency responders to carry Narcan, a drug used to save the life of a heroin overdose victim.

Another bill, grants immunity to a person who calls 9-1-1 for an overdose.

The legislation also gives communities permission to hold prescription drug drives and collect prescription drugs that contain narcotics.

The bills, which have already passed Assembly, now go to the desk of Governor Scott Walker.
