NORTHEAST WISCONSIN, Wis. (WFRV) - Good news for a Fox Cities woman that nearly lost her life 10 years ago from rabies.

Jeanna Giese survived the deadly infection thanks to the efforts of her medical team.

The 25-year-old nearly lost her life after being bitten by a bat that was injured inside her church.

Days went by before Jeanna and her family realized how sick she really was.

She was so bad off that doctors put her in a coma to stop the symptoms.

Jeanna is the first person to survive rabies without the vaccine.
She spent more than 2 years recovering from what happened even relearning motor skills.

Her health did get better, but she's still not 100 percent. Scot Frassetto has been dating Jeanna for about two years.

He heard about her story back in 2004 and they met years later. Now the couple is getting married.
