"Sometimes when you wait for awhile, the right one comes along," said Jeff Mirkes, Executive Director of Downtown Green Bay, Inc.
Early next year, it will be home to InitiativeOne, a leadership training firm. They work with Fortune 500 companies around the country and sports teams, including the Green Bay Packers coaching staff.
"We saw this was a place that could be re-energized and repurposed and give it more life than maybe it ever has before," said CEO, Fred Johnson. "We thought it was the perfect context given our philosophy of business."
City leaders are hoping it does the same for the downtown, spur more development and help fill several neighboring vacancies.
"That's nice to be next to a company like that so we feel very good about some other things that are really going to be happening that are in the red zone right now," explained Mayor Jim Schmitt. "I think it's going to help us get over the goal line."
Downtown leaders are excited to show off Green Bay to visiting clients.
"It's a very unique community and initiative one will be one of the entities that helps broadcast that and really becomes ambassadors," added Mirkes. "They will be business ambassadors for the great city that we live in."
Construction on the building will begin next month and should wrap up early next year.
