APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - It's going to be a busy summer in downtown Appleton.
Officials announced Thursday an even bigger line-up of summer events and activities than ever before. It includes the return of the Heid Music Concert Series to Houdini Plaza. The valley's largest farm held on Saturday mornings is being expanded. Also, a brand new mid-week farm market will be held on Wednesday evenings, at the request of some residents.
"There are folks who like to travel on the weekends and they're not here and they miss a lot of our events so we started to hear from them," explained Jennifer Staphany, Executive Director of Appleton Downtown, Inc. "We did some research through Facebook and started to ask the question, what would you like to see? And what we heard loud and clear was do a mid-week farm market."
Officials expect the events to bring a half-million people to the downtown throughout the summer.
