OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - After an initial delay , ten same-sex couples received their marriage licenses from Winnebago County Wednesday

The announcement by the county caught many off guard, after previous indications showed couples would have to wait until Friday at the earliest.

Needless to say,  the change was welcomed by the couples, including the two men Local 5 News profiled yesterday.  Bob Archer and Alan Borgwardt are now officially married after 21 years of waiting.

County clerk Sue Ertmer chose to waive the 5 day waiting period for the couples, allowing all ten to marry this afternoon.

Of the state's 72 counties, 52 are now issuing same sex marriage licenses.
