Thieves Strike in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wisc. (WFRV) Oshkosh police are warning residents to lock up after numerous burglaries and thefts over the weekend.

Calls started coming in Saturday morning that vehicles were broken into. A total of 6 occurred between Friday night and Saturday.

Two incidents happened in the 1600 block of Burdick Avenue. Loose change was taken in one of the break-ins, while only the vehicle was entered in the second.

Four other break-ins happened on N. Main Street. Crooks struck near 1 N. Main St., the 400 block of N. Main St., and in the 500 block of N. Main St. Golf clubs, GPS units and a stereo system were taken.

A burglary was then reported at a business in the 500 block of N. Main St. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the till.

Police then began receiving calls on Sunday morning of burglaries that occurred overnight.

A suspect tried to break into a business in the 500 block of Pearl Avenue, but couldn't gain access.

The second burglary happened in the 500 block of N. Main St. Video imaging captured the suspect entering the business at 12:48am Sunday. The suspect is about 5'10", 220lbs., wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants, a hood, mask and gloves. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The third burglary happened at a residence in the 1100 block of High Avenue. Cash and electronics were taken.

Police are telling residents to remove valuables from vehicles and lock vehicle doors to remove the crime of opportunity. They're asking residents to report any suspicious activity or suspicious people.
