KIMBERLY, Wis. (WFRV) A car in the Fox River and homes covered with paint; evidence of a crime that Fox Valley Metro Police need your help to solve.
Along the 400 block of Main Street in Kimberly overnight, vandals left their mark. Leaving residents like Joanne Ashman angry after seeing the damage done to her elderly neighbor's home.
"I can't believe someone hit them," said Ashman. "They are in 80s, 90s and don't do anything to anybody and I think it's just sad people keep doing this."
The damage was discovered Wednesday morning when homeowners awoke, saw the mess and called police.
"Our officer found many homes and vehicles in the area vandalized and damaged with blue spray paint," said Investigator Scott Van Schyndel of Fox Valley Metro Police.
In all five homes and six vehicles were vandalized, yet it does not end there. A short time later, a car from the 100 block of Main Street was reported stolen, driven to Sunset Park and over a softball field.
"We've determined the car drove through some fence and cause damage there as well," said the officer.
Before finally ending up at the boat launch - sort of.
"Actually in the Fox River," Van Schyndel said.
Though separate calls- police believe the two incidents are related.
"Just in general same area, 100 block, 400 block, same street, same alley," the officer said.
Now they need to determine if damage reported to cars earlier this month and vandalism at the old paper mill in Kimberly last week are related. For that, police need your help.
"We have no suspects or persons of interest at this time," the investigator said. "Still under investigation, reaching out to public for more information."
And should the vandals come back to Ashman's neighborhood, she will not run and hide.
"They come anywhere near us or the kids - I've got a dog I'll let out," said Ashman.
