Voters Could Face Fall Referendum

- GREEN BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) A Green Bay Alderman wants voters to decide about a hike in the minimum wage.

Alderman Randy Scannell will bring the issue in front of the Green Bay City Council tonight, asking for an advisory referendum to be placed on the November ballot.

"For me, I believe that minimum wage would be one of the biggest things we can do to raise and strengthen our economy. I think that would make a big difference," Scannell said. "I know there are those that believe more in a trickle down theory of strong economy. I believe more in a boost up. That would do a lot more."

The current state minimum wage is set at $7.25 per hour. Only the State Legislature can make the change.
