NORTHEAST WISCONSIN (WFRV) - WisDOT is starting a series of bridge inspections this week, two in Green Bay and two in the Fox Valley. Officials say it is routine annual maintenance.

Engineers say crews are checking all the structural elements as well as pressure washing and changing lights. They say drivers will notice some short lane closures during the inspections, so be prepared for back-ups.

Work runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. p-m Tuesday on the Walnut and Mason street bridges in Green Bay. Those same time Wednesday on WIS 116 bridge in Winneconne and Thursday at the Congress Ave bridge in Oshkosh.

"The joints, connections, the bearings and stuff like that," explained Kurt Wranovsky, Maintenance Engineer, WisDOT. "Basically everything. As the bridge gets on in its life, you find out you've got to do some minor repairs, so this also helps us figure out what the repairs are going to be for that year."

On Walnut Street, the inspection coincides with another ongoing maintenance project which won't be completed until November.
