FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) The investigation continues into Friday morning's fire at the Comfort Inn hotel in Fond du Lac. The south side of the hotel was heavily damaged by fire. Those staying in 78 hotel rooms were displaced.

One of the people involved in that fire, a Fond du Lac woman, is in shock. For the second time in the last five months, fire has left her without a home.

Madonna Brenner and her four daughters were among those displaced by that fire at Comfort Inn.   They had been staying there after another fire in March, destroyed everything they owned.

"Wouldn't wish it on anybody," said Madonna Brenner.

These pictures show what fire did to her last apartment in March at Northern Lights Estates in Fond du Lac.

"We lost everything," Brenner said. "Toys, computers, everything gone - clothes, baby books, pictures."

After that fire, her insurance company put her up at the Comfort Inn, but only until August 11.

She had hoped to more back to Northern Lights Estates, but the property owner said no.

"Because the fire started with a candle in our building they said we were a liability and are unable to move back in," said Brenner.

Since then she has been searching for a new home in Fond du Lac. However, finding something she can afford that is big enough for her family has been difficult.

"With the four girls it's been hard finding a place to live that has three bedrooms or more," she said.

Now a second fire - displacing here family once again - with so little time left to find a permanent home.

"That August 11 is staring me in the face everyday - yes - it scares me to death," Brenner said. "We need to find a place to live in our price range in our kid's school district - it would be wonderful."

Brenner says she has been working with the housing authority in Fond du Lac to find a home new home, but so far no luck.
