Packers’ veteran B.J. Raji is reportedly lost for the season after suffering a torn right biceps in Friday night’s preseason matchup against the Oakland Raiders. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the diagnosis early Saturday morning, though nothing has been confirmed by the Packers organization.

Green Bay resigned Raji during the off-season to a one-year, $4 million dollar contract. Raji made the move back to nose tackle, a position the 2009 first-round pick played his first two seasons. If his injury is in fact a complete tear (which multiple outlets are reporting) then Raji would need surgery and will likely miss the year. If it’s a partial tear it may not require surgery and Raji could return. He would be eligible for IR designated to return.

Second-year pro Josh Boyd replaced Raji last night and has been consistent and rookie Mike Pennel has also had a productive training camp. The Packers signed Letroy Guion over the off-season, but he’s yet to practice sidelined with a hamstring injury. It’s likely he’s headed to the PUP list.
