The St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs got off to another good start in the first inning, but were unable to take advantage of their chances at the plate against the Gatorade Player of the Year. Webster then pulled away late after breaking the 2-2 tie in the sixth inning, and claimed the division three state title.
The Zephyrs jumped in front early on their only two hits of the day, and that was enough with TJ Skrzypczak on the mound. St. Mary Catholic now has a chance to bring home their second state title in three years after a 4-0 win over Mineral Point in the division three semifinals.
The Green Bay Preble Hornets have seen plenty of success on the diamond, reaching the state tournament three straight years. Now they hope the third time is the charm as they search for a title at Fox Cities Stadium.
