Gallardo, Weeks lead Brewers to 4th straight win

Yovani Gallardo went eight shutout innings and Rickie Weeks went 3-5 with a home run as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Miami Marlins 6-1 on Monday night in south Florida.

Gallardo (5-6) gave the Brewers his best start of the season thus far, allowing just four hits, walking one and striking out four.  He also reached the 1,000 strikeout mark in his career, joining Ben Sheets

Playing in front of friends and family in his hometown, Weeks had three hits, including a home run, pushing his average over the .200 mark after a rough start to the 2013 campaign.

Jonathan Lucroy had four hits, and Carlos Gomez three for the Brewers, who had 16 hits as a team, despite Ryan Braun being held out of the contest with a thumb injury.

With the victory, the Brewers (26-37) ran their winning streak to four.  They will face the Marlins again Tueday night in Miami in game two of the three-game series.
