Xavier Forfeits Regional Final win, Little Chute to face FVL tonight in Boys Basketball Sectional Semifinal

The WIAA ruled late Thursday morning that Xavier used an ineligible player on Saturday night when they defeated Little Chute in a Division 3 boys basketball regional final.

As a result, Xavier forfeits their victory, and Little Chute will instead face Fox Valley Lutheran in a sectional semifinal tonight at Appleton East high school.

Xavier High School released a statement on their website saying they self-reported the infraction to the WIAA when they were made aware of it on Thursday morning.  The infraction took place when a player on the Xavier team took part in a non-high school basketball game.

A Fox Valley Lutheran official told Local 5 that their team had been preparing to face Xavier all week, but received a call from the WIAA late Thursday morning that they would be facing Little Chute instead.

Little Chute has a 21-3 record this season, while Fox Valley Lutheran is 19-5.  They split their two regular season meetings.

Local 5 will have more on this story as it develops.
