The dreaded news became official Wednesday as Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that left tackle Bryan Bulaga will undergo surgery for a torn ACL and miss the remainder of the season.  It's devastating for Bulaga who missed the final seven games a year ago with a slight fracture in his hip.  It would be more devastating to Green Bay if not for the tremedous play of rookie LT David Bakhtiari so far through training camp.   The 4th round pick out of Colorado is being given a shot to replace Bulaga, while the other offensive linemen remain in their current positions across the #1 O-Line unit.

In other injury news Wednesday, RB Eddie Lacy who lately has looked like the Packers potential starter in the backfield, sat out with a hamstring injury.  McCarthy says the injury has bothered Lacy for awhile, but is not sure how long he will need to sit out.  WR Randall Cobb practiced on a limited basis with a biceps injury suffered Tuesday.  Mike Neal (abdomen) came off the PUP list and practiced sparingly.

There are many ways to determine if a team is ready for the preseason.  One is when the team begins to fight each other at practice.  It became evident Wednesday that the Packers want to play someone other than the Packers when several fights broke out during a team running drill.  At one point TE Jermichael Finley and LB Jarvis Reed were throwing hay-makers back and forth at each other.  After another play LB Robert Francois and OL Greg Van Roten got after one another and OLB Coach Kevin Greene and others had to step in and try to stop them from going at it.  Friday can't come soon enough.

Vince Young appeared to take snaps away from B.J. Coleman in the race for a backup QB spot on the roster.  But Young and Coleman were both up and down Wednesday.  Young threw an interception to CB Brandon Smith during 7-on-7 drills and over threw TE D.J. Williams during his first pass of the team period which led a pick by Safety Chaz Powell.  Coleman threw a couple of nice deep balls during practice but struggled with accuracy and consistency, much like Young.  Young has an uphill battle to earn a roster spot joining the team so late, and both he and Coleman will have to show something to surpass Graham Harrell who is have a very steady camp with very few mistakes made.

Coming up on WRFV Local 5 at 6 & 10: with Jordy Nelson out all preseason and Randall Cobb beat up, the young WR's have the chance to show what they can do.  Plus see footage of the fights at training camp today.
