"Bryan is still hopeful to potentially give it a go. We clearly understand all the options with the initial medical opinion. Nothing's been finalized. If you have an opportunity to see Bryan..he doesn't even look like he's injured," Mike McCarthy informed media following Tuesday's practice.
"I'm just saying, there's nothing wrong with hoping for a miracle," Ted Thompson chimed in.
Rookie David Bakhtiari, a fourth round pick, will step in at Left Tackle in Bulaga's absence. He should in good hands with Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton playing along-side him.
"I've been impressed by him. He seems to win most of his blocks so I'll be fine over there with him. If that's the case, I'll coach him up and we'll move forward," Josh Sitton said.
"I mean he helps out tremendously, he comes up to the line and kinda gives my mind at ease cause he kinda just tells me what to do right away, before I can figure it out, David Bakhtiari explained.
So Bulaga's status is uncertain at this point, but it sounds like him playing this season is a long shot at best. Speaking of long shots, after being away from the game for an entire year, 30-year-old quarterback Vince Young has been given another chance in Green Bay.
"I'm just happy to be a Packer and have an opportunity to get here and play with these very, very special guys that I have watched for a long time so just want to get in here and earn the team's respect and earn the staff and the coach's respect and continue to keep playing football, the game that I love," Vince Young said.
Young is here to challenge Graham Harrell and BJ Coleman for the back-up position. In seven prior seasons in the league, the 2006 NFL offensive rookie of the year and 2-time pro-bowler, threw for almost 9,000 yards and ran for about 1,500... but his career has been blemished by inconsistency, on and off the field.
"Back in the day was a young Vince. Now I'm more mature and I've definitely learned from the things that happened in the past. I'm married now, grown man, 30-years-old so kinda like the old head in this locker room," Young explained.
So while one player holds out hope he'll get the news he wants to hear, another is determined to make the most of what could be his last shot at the NFL.
