(WFRV-TV)-  The Green Bay Packers placed center J.C. Tretter (knee) on inured reserve-designation for return Wednesday.  The move means Tretter can return to practice in six weeks, and game-action in eight weeks.

To fill his spot on the roster the Packers signed center Garth Gerhart to the active roster from the practice squad, and signed G Josh Allen to the practice squad.

Tretter was set to be the man snapping the ball to Aaron Rodgers, but an injury has sidelined him for the second straight year.  Tretter never appeared in a game as a rookie after breaking his foot camp.  Rookie 4th round pick Corey Linsley will start for Green Bay in Thursday's opener vs. Seattle.
