Injury Report: DT Letroy Guion (hamstring), RB Rajion Neal (knee), LB Joe Thomas (knee), and TE Colt Lyerla (knee) continued to be out of practice. LB Brad Jones (dental procedure) was new to the sideline Wednesday. WR Davante Adams (wrist) returned to action and WR Jordy Nelson (hamstring) appeared to be a limited participant once again. In the locker room Nelson said bhe wasn't sure if he'd play in Saturday's preseason game in St. Louis.
Practice: The always physical "combo drill" featuring the offense and defense working on the run game produced a lot of fireworks. The biggest fight of camp so far took place when LB Jamari Lattimore went after LG Josh Sitton which led to a sideline-clearing scrum. Lattimore was so hot that he continued to try and go after Sitton during an unplanned "regeneration" period. Even LB coach Winston Moss and Offensive line coach James Campen barked at each other during the dust-up. There were several other small scuffles following plays. "Defensive guys are trying to finish to go hit the ball carrier," said guard T.J. Lang. "We're trying to finish our blocks. There's going to be sparks that fly, emotions that kind of get out of hand at times, but at the end of the day I think that everyone realizes we're in this thing together as one."
Special teams will continue to be something to keep a close eye on at camp and in preseason games. DuJuan Harris, Jeff Janis, Micah Hyde, and Ladarius Perkins handled kick returns Wednesday, while Hyde, Tramon Williams, and Randall Cobb took the punt return reps. Speaking of Williams, he had a nice interception in the red zone when he stepped in front of a Chase Rettig pass intended for Alex Gillett. Undrafted OLB Adrian Hubbard had an athletic pick six off Scott Tolzien while playing scout team. Tolzien was also intercepted by S Sean Richardon who continues to be around the ball during practice. It was not a banner day for Matt Flynn either who missed a few would be touchdown passes and could have been injured when it appeared he tripped over an offensive lineman. After an outstanding start to camp, Mason Crosby missed two field goal attempts (42, 53 yards).
Next Up: The Packers do not have another public practice before Saturday's preseason game against St. Louis at 3 p.m.
