San Francisco, saying his offense didn't score enough points. He made sure that
wasn't a issue today, throwing for a career high 480 yards which ties a
franchise record. Rodgers also threw for 4 touchdowns.
James Jones says that's just what the leader of the pack does
around here. None of his teammates were surprised by his record breaking day.
“He spoils you, he makes it look easy - he was on point all day I
thought the communication just all the little things just went right,” Mike
“I don't think this was my best game. I'm very happy with the accuracy and the way
things went in the passing game but definitely things to work on,” Rodgers
James Jones led the receiving core with 11 catches for 178 yards
-- both were personal career highs.
“I don't want to say one of my best cause I didn't score any
touchdowns, but it was good to get involved, as many targets as I had, catches
as I had, good to get involved and help my team win,” Jones said.
Jones had zero catches in San Francisco but shrugged off questions
about it earlier in the week --- instead he bragged on his teammates and went
back to work.
“We got a bunch of guys that can make plays, Jordy was the
touchdown maker today and EB installs that in us and we got a bunch of guys
that can make plays. Jordy was the touchdown maker today, me and Randall had
yards and we were able to put a lot of points on the board. It’s a good thing
to have when you have a lot of weapons cause you can't really slow us down.
As Jones mentioned, Jordy Nelson found the end zone twice today. The
veteran is making a habit of making difficult catches look almost effortless.
“Yeah we just tried to run a little double move on them but they
played their two trap and the DB stayed inside, which is what they do and the
safety didn't get over top so Aaron made a good throw and put it in a spot
where I could get to it but also protect
me from the safety coming across. So we always appreciate that,” Nelson
Randall Cobb caught 9 passes for a career high 128 yards and a
touchdown. He missed out on an opportunity for another score on the first drive
when he stepped out of bounds - it looked as if he wouldn't be denied the
“Anytime we touch the ball we're trying to take it to the endzone
and we never know when we're going to get the ball again so that's gotta be
your mindset is get to the endzone. I wasn't really trying to reflect on the
last play because you gotta have amnesia whenever we're on the field. Gotta let
those little things go like that I mean if I was to drop a ball I gotta let
that drop go and move on and continue to play,” Cobb said.
Jones, Nelson, Cobb and Tight End Jermichael Finley combined to
average over 15 yards a catch. Rodgers praised his receivers ability to get
yards after the catch today. Finley
credits bi-weekly Pilates and putting on weight this off-season.
That's one of the things I was focused on coming into training
camp YAC: yards after the catch and I think putting on this little weight
helped me. I got players bouncing off so feels good running on the field and
just having fun right now, having a blast,” Finley explained.
