It was the first time fans and the media alike got a glimpse of Green Bay's revamped practice schedule the day before a game. In the past the Packers did not conduct a practice thew day before a game. The team ditched the pads and shells instead opting for helmets, shorts, and jerseys. The session lasted just under an hour and featured individual drills, special teams and team periods.
There was no media availability which meant no updates were provided on injured players. CB Casey Hayward did not practice for the second straight day, after Mike McCarthy said the team was just being smart with the third-year player who had hamstring issues derail his sophomore season. Others that were out with injury and who's availability is in question for Friday's game: DT Letroy Guion (hamstring), RB Rajion Neal (knee), C Jordan McCary (shoulder), LB Joe Thomas (knee), and TE Brandon Bostick (knee). Bob McGinn with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday night that Bostick has a slight fracture of his fibula, and may not be available until week two or three at the earliest.
The countdown of practices open to the public is down to two following the Raiders preseason game Friday night. The final two public practices are Monday at 11:45 a.m. and Wednesday at 10:15 a.m.
You can watch the Packers vs. Raiders on Local 5 Friday night at 7, after a special newscast at 6:30 previewing the preseason home opener.
