Another step forward for Highway 41 project

Another big step forward is taken today in the Highway 41 project.
(WFRV) - Another big step forward is taken today in the Highway 41 project.

The first of several large pieces of the new flyover ramp for the US 41/I-43 interchange will be put in place. The first steel tub girder will be hoisted in the air, and set on top of the pillars already in place. According to the DOT, the design of the interchange will be similar to the one being built at Highway 29.

DOT officials say the new ramp will not only make the interchange safer, but will also get traffic moving faster. A majority of the work on the new interchange will be done right next to the existing ramps. This means there will be fewer lane closures for drivers.

Officials expect the new ramps to be open by next spring.
