Brewers reportedly near deal with pitcher Matt Garza

After reportedly coming to a deal with the free agent, the team released a statement saying it wasn't completed yet.
After being mainly silent throughout the off-season when it comes to free agent signings, it appeared Thursday that the Milwaukee Brewers had completed a major deal.

Right-handed starting pitcher Matt Garza and the team had reportedly agreed to a four year, $52 million contract.  However, on Thursday evening the team released an statement saying that while negotiations were ongoing with Garza, no deal had been finalized as yet.

It is uncharacteristic for most professional franchises to comment on contract negotiations while they are ongoing.  There are reports that Garza may have had issues passing a team physical.  He does have a history of elbow problems.

Stay tuned.
