Driving Drunk? Don't Press Your Luck

St. Patrick's weekend is a time to celebrate, but law enforcement wants to make sure you do so responsibly.
GREEN BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) St. Patrick's weekend is a time to celebrate, but law enforcement wants to make sure you do so responsibly.

The OWI task force from agencies throughout Northeast Wisconsin will be out all weekend long to make sure people aren't driving drunk. Manitowoc, Outagamie, Fond du Lac, Winnebago and Brown County are all taking part.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department, drunk and drugged driving continues to be prevalent, persistent and deadly on roads throughout Wisconsin. In 2011, 225 people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured in alcohol-related crashes. There were more than 35,000 convictions of drunk driving in Wisconsin in 2011.

The Wisconsin State Patrol sums up this weekend crackdown, "If you are over the limit on St. Patrick's you will wake up in jail wearing orange instead of green."
