(WFRV-TV)  --- Tom Crabtree got in one last workout at the House of Speed Thursday before leaving Green Bay for good and heading to his new hometown of Tampa Bay Friday.  The long locks and debonair facial hair are gone, a sign that change is on the horizon.

Crabtree signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers after the Packers failed to offer Crabtree a tender as a restricted free agent, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Local 5's Ryan Rodig caught up with fan-favorite who is known for his humorous Twitter musings, "hard hat" approach on the gridiron, and charitable work in the Green Bay area.

On signing with the Buccaneers who showed more interest than Packers:

"That's what it kind of came down to.  I knew where the Packers stood, and I knew where Tampa Bay stood. There wasn't much back and forth, especially with the Packers.  It was kind of an easy decision after that."

On whether the opportunity for more playing time in Tampa Bay played a role in the decision:

"That's always kind of a part of  the whole process, but at the same time I approach it the same way I have here the past few years.  Get to camp, make the team, take it one day at a time, one step at a time and that's all I'm looking at."

On why he became so popular with fans of the Packers:

"I hope it's just that I came to work everyday and didn't really complain or make a big deal about it. Just did my job and I tried to connect with the community."

Best moment in green and gold:

"The Super Bowl, that's definitely unmatched up to this point.  Just those moments being in the locker room with the guys after a win.  I will definitely miss that especially with the bonds and friendships I have with guys here.  That will be a part I definitely will miss, but like I said it's time to make new memories like that down in Tampa."

On living in Green Bay year-round and what he will miss:

"It's a tight knit community.  It's good for our family,  We have so many friends that I made on the field and off the field that it was easy for us to stick around.... "My kids were born here and I've been here for over 3 years so there is a little bit of sadness, but at the same time it's kind of a new opportunity.  More than anything I am excited about getting down to Tampa and starting down there."

On working with charitable organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation:

"You get to meet so many good people outside of football.  That's definitely going to be the hardest part about leaving is missing those people and those moments."

On if he's been fitted for an eye-patch yet as he prepares to become a Buccaneer:

"No, not yet.  Ironically, for Halloween this past year I was a pirate.  I have some pictures floating around out there with me with an eye patch, a hat and everything. It's crazy how that works."
