Aaron Harrison's 3-pointer with 5 seconds left ended the Badgers' national championship hopes Saturday night, as Kentucky defeated Wisconsin, 74-73, in the NCAA National Semifinals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Kentucky's highly talented five freshman starters, and the Badgers veteran group staged a classic confrontation in the second half.
Wisconsin took a seven point lead in the opening minutes after the break, but Kentucky followed with a 15-0 run to take an eight point advantage of their own. With 15 seconds remaining in a tie game, Wisconsin's Traevon Jackson was fouled while shooting a three-pointer. He made two of the three foul shots, giving the Badgers a two point advantage. It was then that Harrison knocked down his second big three in as many games, giving the Wildcats the lead.
Jackson's potential game-winning shot at the buzzer went off the backboard and rim, ending Wisconsin's season.
