Lawmakers consider propane loan bill

Each loan would be as much as $2500.
MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - State lawmakers are considering a bill that would create a statewide propane loan program.

The legislature's joint finance committee will hear the proposal Wednesday.  The bill would help middle class people who don't qualify for  low income assistance by giving them low interest *loans* to help pay for propane.

Each loan would be as much as $2500.

"These are pretty proud people,” Representative John Nygren (R – Marinette) says, “they are not looking for a handout; they're just looking to be able to weather the storm with this unexpected increase cost,"

In Marinette County alone, thirty families have reached out to emergency management --inquiring about loans.
